Climate Policy Engagement Overview: PetroChina strategically engaged on climate policy with a mix of positive and negative positions on the energy transition. While stating top-line support for for China’s 2060 carbon neutrality target and the Paris Agreement, PetroChina also advocated for a continued role of fossil fuels in the energy mix, including oil and fossil gas exploration in China and abroad. PetroChina retains also memberships to industry associations, which have engaged negatively on various strands of climate policy.
